The division was aimed to pursue country’s plan for achieving national Energy targets for Energy Efficiency in the Tonga electricity network through implementation of TERM Projects, Climate Technology Centre and Network Project (CTCN), Pacific Appliance Labelling and Standard (PALS), Tonga Village Network Upgrade Project (TVNUP). A more tangible and mandatory pivotal role is yet to be realized by the Department until Energy Framework Bill is considered and assented. The division is expected to implement MEPSL and energy efficiency master plan when all are regularized.
